Nervescape is Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir’s (known as Shoplifter) artistic interpretation of the brain’s complex network of neurons as a sculptural installation.

Like Narcissus enthralled by his psychedelic reflection, Nervescape is Shoplifter’s brain gazing at a version of itself externalized as fluffy masses of colorful hair in the outside world. The juxtaposition of primordial furry textures with contemporary saturated neons highlights the delicate balance between the natural and the artificial in our modern lives. It seems to say that just as our external environment is a hybrid between the artificial and the natural, so too is the internal world of our thoughts.
